As we con琀椀nue to strive for excellence in healthcare delivery,
our hospital faces a mul琀椀tude of
challenges that threaten to undermine our e昀昀orts. From inadequate
equipment to insu昀케cient sta昀케ng
packages and subpar accommoda琀椀on, the list of concerns is long
and pressing. In this ar琀椀cle, we will
explore some of the key challenges
facing our hospital, with a par琀椀cular focus on the need for Computed Tomography (CT) scan services,
sta昀昀 salaries, and improved sta昀昀
accommoda琀椀on.
CT Scan Services
One of the most cri琀椀cal challenges facing our hospital is the lack
of access to CT scan services. CT
scans are a crucial diagnos琀椀c tool,
allowing healthcare professionals
to quickly and accurately diagnose
a range of medical condi琀椀ons, from
strokes and cancers to internal
injuries and infec琀椀ons. However, without a func琀椀onal CT scan
machine, our hospital is forced to
rely on referrals to other facili琀椀es,
most of which are over 70km away
in Kampala, o昀琀en resul琀椀ng in delayed diagnoses and treatment.
The absence of CT scan services
not only impacts pa琀椀ent care but
also puts a strain on our hospital’s
resources like vehicle maintenance
and ward sta昀케ng. Delayed diagnoses can lead to longer hospital
stays, increased costs, and a greater burden on our already overstretched sta昀昀.
Importance of Increased Staff
Salaries
Another signi昀椀cant challenge facing our hospital is the need for increased sta昀昀 salaries. Our healthcare professionals are the backbone
of our organisa琀椀on, working 琀椀relessly to provide high-quality care
to our pa琀椀ents. Compared to other
hospitals (including government
hospitals), our sta昀昀 salaries are not
as compe琀椀琀椀ve, making it challenging to retain top talent.
The impact of low sta昀昀 salaries is
mul琀椀faceted. Not only does it affect the morale and job sa琀椀sfac琀椀on
of our healthcare professionals,
but it may also impact the quality
of care provided to our pa琀椀ents.
