During the fes琀椀val of Tihar, the exuberant youth in one church were
keen to sing and dance for us: a
cultural feast! These youth were
dancing and ‘moshing’ as they sang,
taking church worship to a di昀昀erent level, which was a delight to
see. We usually teach up to 40 par琀椀cipants at one 琀椀me, but the number expanded to 94 at this church.
Other Outreach
In addi琀椀on to our work in collabora琀椀on with churches, two psychiatrists in the team led teaching for
other groups. We taught a ‘tree of
life’ programme to school teachers,
which they in turn can use to teach
children mental health, and we renewed links with psychiatrists in
Dharan University.
We were able to teach sta昀昀 working for a visionary NGO called Koshish. This 琀椀ny Chris琀椀an charity
champions good mental health
across Nepal. It runs a specialist in-pa琀椀ent unit for women with
psychiatric problems who would
otherwise be on the street. We also
taught sta昀昀 at a faith based NGO
in Kathmandu suppor琀椀ng women
who have been tra昀케cked.
Since our return, Nepal has had
groundbreaking elec琀椀ons, and Balendra Shah has been instated as
Prime Minister. He is new to poli琀椀cs, and a charisma琀椀c an琀椀-corrup琀椀on rapper. There is new hope for
honest and posi琀椀ve change once
more in Nepal: please pray for his
enabling to carry this through.
Increasingly, we see the major role
of this training as shining light,
compassion and truth into dark
hidden corners, where prayer is
par琀椀cularly needed and we are so
grateful that MMN has made this
training possible. Thank you so
